Mechanics Modeling and Simulation Analysis of a Novel Articulated Chassis for Forestry

When the power chassis of general forest machinery is working on uneven terrains, insufficient due to poor traction between wheels and road surface, which affects driving operation entire vehicle. According principle multiple-degree-of-freedom profiling, a novel articulated for forestry was designed. The innovative structure realizes active pitching, deflection, passive torsion in front rear frames. kinematics dynamics (mechanics modeling) were analyzed, theoretical model relationship rotation angle rotary shaft pitching frames established. A three-dimensional established using SolidWorks, kinematic simulation performed by ADAMS. results compared, maximum error found occur at position where 90° less than 1%, demonstrating accuracy model. Furthermore, condition experiment conducted climbing slope with wheel speed 1.39 rev/s, duration effective force 61.5% longer ordinary chassis. In steep-convex-obstacle climbing, pitch function can ensure that have good contact road, load pass through an obstacle smoothly. For single-side crossing, provide continuous stable crossing owing excellent surface profiling.
